God Himself instituted marriage, emphasizing its permanence and unity. The union of marriage is intimate and unbreakable. Marriage is also a sacred reflection of the union between Christ and His church (Ephesians 5:32).

Pre-marital sex, pregnancy before marriage, marriage to an unbeliever or to someone with questionable marital status may constitute a ground to delay or disapprove the solemnization.
